Job Shadow Reflection
One of the career fields I am interested in is medicine. Although I am not quite sure where I want to go within that field yet, I did a job shadow on Hope Schultz, a Nurse that works at a walk-in clinic called "Stafford Medical Group". Most of what she does is managing customers before and after the doctor comes to check on them. She finds vitals (blood pressure, etc.), schedules appointments, sends prescriptions, and writes referrals. Apart from that though, she's also responsible for cleaning the clinic and sorting all the patients' files and other paperwork. Although interacting with the patients seemed interesting to me, she did tell me that she often has to space out her work because she gets bored often. The clinic isn't very large, and she sits in an office type area. Hope continued to tell me that she wants to go back to school so she can become a nurse in a hospital, because she envisions that being much more "adventurous".
I like how Hope thinks, and although she said she loves working at the clinic, I don't think I would. I've never been too fond of having an office type of job. I would much rather be in a busy, open area--like a hospital, perhaps. For the same reason Hope has, I think a hospital would be a much more exciting atmosphere. I still am considering the medical field, but I am more focused on going somewhere that doesn't have an office environment. I wished Hope the best of luck in continuing her education and I can't wait to see where my own education will continue to take me.
