About Me
My name is Sana Qureshi and I am a 17 year old senior at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy. For a long time, I have been defending and advocating for causes I was felt no one around me was even aware of. I was a freshman in high school when I first heard about the conflict in Palestine, and I immediately felt inclined to help, although I didn't really know how. I had other Muslim friends who supported the same cause, but I rarely heard anything about it in the news or from other people. As a sophomore, I took a trip to visit my family in Pakistan. Only a couple days after we arrived, there was a terrorist attack in a Northern city in the country. It was a school shooting conducted by the Taliban. 141 students and teachers were killed. When I came back to the U.S. no one I talked to had heard about the attack--except other Pakistanis. I kept noticing this trend, and when I heard about the Syrian refugee crisis, I felt compelled to do something and to make sure other people were hearing about it. I didn't want this to be another tragedy that people were letting roll off their shoulders. That is where my capstone begins.
